Why do I need a check-up and clean?
What does my check-up and clean include?
- Check-up: The dentist thoroughly checks your teeth and gums and will discuss any issues with you.
- Clean: A thorough descaling of the teeth to remove plaque and build-up. Your teeth will be finished with a polish.
- X-rays: It is standard practice to take what is called a bitewing x-ray of each side of your mouth. These x-rays show the molars at the back of the mouth and allow the dentist to assess for decay. We recommend re-taking these x-rays once every 1-2 years depending on the patient’s risk of decay and disease.
- Fluoride Treatment: A fluoride treatment is a concentrated paste brushed onto your teeth that acts as a varnishing agent. It strengthens the enamel of your teeth, thereby protecting against decay and can reduce sensitivity.

How much will it cost me?
A general dental check-up and clean with X-rays usually costs around $295.00. Currently, we are running a promotion offering a no-gap check-up and clean for patients with private health insurance with extras coverage. This means that there will be no out-of-pocket expense for you after we swipe your health insurance card * T and C apply.
If you do not have private health insurance, we are offering a discounted check-up and clean with X-rays for $150.00 for all new patients to Above and Beyond Dental.
How do I look after my teeth at home?
Your dentist at Above and Beyond will provide you with some key tips for improving your oral health. You will also receive a take-home kit that has a toothbrush, toothpaste, and interdental brushes. Following the instructions provided by the dentist in regard to home care can greatly improve the health of your mouth and teeth, and allow you to maintain your natural teeth for life.
